Description: Germany: Saxony Medal for the Return of Troops to the Fatherland 26 October 1866. Scarce bronze commemorative medal, ca. 18 mm in diameter, celebrating the return of Saxon troops after the Seven Week’s War. Saxony fought on the side of Austria-Hungary, along with other German states, but were defeated by Prussia and its allies. The obverse of the medal features King Johann of Saxony; on an old dark green ribbon, which is probably the correct ribbon. The large suspension ring is almost certainly a replacement; however, it has been professionally attached with no damage to the medal itself. The medal would otherwise be in near extremely fine condition. Authenticity guaranteed; 14-day return privilege (30 days overseas), excluding postage, provided item is returned in same condition when sold.
