Description: George Jones Crescent China Floral Cobalt & Gold 8 7/8 Inch Plate Circa 1920s Absolutely beautiful scalloped edge earthenware plate. Decorated with pink, blue, red, yellow and purple flowers in the center. With bands of gold gilding, gold gilt dots, and gold gilt scrollwork. The border is a deep cobalt blue over white, with fancy gold gilt scrollwork around sections of white that show though. Some of the white sections have small flowers. With scalloped gold gilding along the edge. Marked on the reverse The Bailey Banks & Biddle Co Philadelphia and GJ & Sons Made in England. This mark was used by George Jones Crescent China during the 1920s. Bailey Banks & Biddle are the Philadelphia retailer the plate was made for. Also marked with the pattern number 18008. Has some wear to the gilding, but otherwise good condition. Measures approximately 8 7/8 inches wide. This is vintage and may have small in manufacture defects that do not affect the display of the piece. HTLW
