Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US ZH-CN X-NONE Genuine D/T Tibetan Quartz Cluster, Himalayan Region of Tibet, 1.75” x 1.25” x 0.75” Description: · Miniature specimen of genuine double-terminated Tibetan Quartz in a cluster of four! · Nice terminations with natural occurring inclusions, good clarity, including rainbow hues when held under light · Source: Himalayan Region of Tibet · Size: Approximately 1.75” x 1.25” x 0.75”; longest individual crystal approximately 1.25” long; widest crystal approximately ¾” · Condition: Good, on display in cabinet only. This featured miniature specimen is a genuine double-terminated Tibetan Quartz in a cluster of four terminated crystals. The longest individual crystal is approximately 1¼” and the widest crystal is approximately ¾”. Two of those crystals are more prismatic and have natural occurring inclusions and impurities with horizontal striations on the surface, hence they look a little cloudy but the terminations are clear, sharp and pointed. The other two are broader and more stubby hexagonal crystals with tapered terminations; they are exceptionally clear, with some natural incurring inclusions like veins and rainbows, and they also display crystallized planes within that exhibit strong double refraction properties which allows light to flow through and/or reflect upon it. When held under light and at certain angles, spots/peaks of rainbow hues can be seen as shown in some of the pictures. This quartz variety is characterized by its natural double-terminated points, with one end being broader and the other end tapering to a point. There are some minor surface imperfections and abrasions, probably due to the excavation process. This specimen is unique in terms of its size, form, shape and inclusions. It displays and shows well, especially with its rainbow hues when held under light at certain angles. Such attractive qualities certainly make this specimen worthy as a nice addition to any mineral collection! This fine specimen can be yours for $12 plus shipping and handling. Specimen Background information: Tibetan Quartz is a unique and revered variety of quartz crystal that is found in the high-altitude regions of Tibet and the surrounding areas in the Himalayas. It is highly regarded for its exceptional clarity and purity. Named for its country of origin, Tibetan Quartz is a variety of Colorless Quartz. Tibetan Quartz displays pure ice whites with a beautiful shimmer. Genuine Tibetan Quartz has a hexagonal crystal structure and usually contains a variety of natural inclusions, such as veils, rainbows, or phantoms, including minerals like hematite, chlorite, and carbon deposits, which can be seen under magnification, as with this featured specimen. It may also have a slightly cloudy or milky appearance. Tibetan Quartz, sometimes referred to as Himalayan Quartz, is a type of quartz crystal known for its clarity, transparency, and often its unique inclusions. It is a subset of clear quartz, which is a silicon dioxide mineral. What sets Tibetan Quartz apart is its association with the Himalayan Mountain range and the high-altitude regions of Tibet. This quartz variety is characterized by its natural double-terminated points, with one end being broader and the other end tapering to a point. Tibetan Quartz is formed deep within the Earth’s crust under immense pressure and heat. It is typically found in pegmatite formations, which are coarse-grained igneous rocks that often contain a variety of minerals. These pegmatites are abundant in the Himalayan region, which spans across countries such as Tibet, Nepal, Bhutan, and northern India. Tibetan Quartz crystals are often extracted from these rugged, high-altitude terrains. Note: **All specimens are taken in natural and regular lighting only.
