Description: General Lafayette Paddle Boat Pairpoint Glass Cup Plate 44 Sandwich Glass Museum Vintage Window Decoration Handcrafted on Cape Cod, Made in USA This vintage Pairpoint Glass lead crystal cup plate features The Lafayette, a local paddle wheel vessel. General Lafayette was one of the popular Revolutionary War heroes after George Washington. The cup plate was originally produced between 1978 and 1980, and the mold was destroyed, making it a limited edition item. Made specifically for the Sandwich Historical Society, using a press from 1850, this cup plate was designed to be similar to those produced at the Boston & Sandwich Glass Co. This vintage cup plate includes the letters "SM" (Sandwich Museum) in the design. The final photo is included solely for size illustration and does not represent the exact item available for purchase. Crafted on Cape Cod through traditional methods, each 3.5-inch cup plate showcases the artisan's skill. Using a hammer and chisel, the engraver created a steel mold for each design. With an antique press, molten glass was pressed into the engraved mold, resulting in a series of cup plates that possess similarity, yet retain their unique characteristics. The irregularities in each piece attest to their handmade nature, contributing to their unique charm. Within the design, you'll discover the artisan's initials and the Pairpoint trademark. Beyond their aesthetic appeal, these cup plates serve various practical purposes. They can function as catchall dishes for organizing small items like keys or jewelry, or as ring dishes to securely hold your cherished treasures. Additional Information: SIZE: Approximately 3.5" in diameter, 0.5" in height SHIPPING: Your cup plate will be carefully packaged in a vintage box and shipped from Maine, securely protected in a padded bubble mailer.
