Description: Set of 3 local stamps issued in May 2022 for islands of north-eastern England; one each for the Farne Islands, Coquet Island and Holy Island / Lindisfarne.=========Local stamp for the Farne Islands, the small archipelago off the Northumberland coast famous for their wildlife. The stamp was prepared and issued by a philatelist and islands-enthusiast on a visit to the islands of North-East England and is believed to be only the third local stamp issue for the Farne Islands following the first issue of 2012 (now sold out) and the second issue of 2016 (see separate listing). 300 stamps were printed, of which 30 were used on postcards mailed from the Inner Farne island. Approximate size of stamp 44mm x 26mm.Perforate, gummed paper, colour printing.Design shows a puffin peering out from its burrow on Inner Farne.Printed in Germany by Juergen Schwarz / Yourstamps.=============Local stamp for Coquet Island, the bird-reserve island off the Northumberland coast near Amble.The stamp was prepared and issued by a philatelist and islands-enthusiast on a visit to the islands of North-East England and is believed to be only the fourth local stamp issue for Coquet Island following the first issue of 2012 (now sold out), the second issue of 2016 (see separate listing) and the third limited-edition issue of 2017 (now sold out).330 stamps were printed, of which 45 were used on postcards which were carried around the island on a 'Puffin Cruises' tour boat and then posted on the mainland. (The island is an RSPB reserve and landing is not permitted except for the wardens).Issue date 21 May 2022. An earlier philatelist and islands-enthusiast, the late Ken Gibson, also created local issues for the island in the late 1980s. The island is served by a Royal Mail post office.300 stamps were printed, of which 30 were used on postcards mailed from the island, posted in the Royal Mail postbox outside the island's Post Office.Issue date 23 May 2022.
