Description: Very nice complete set of Gallant Knight Tournament Chess Pieces from 1950. Weighted mottled plastic chessmen in Black and Ivory with a felted base. These are large and beautifully designed pieces, the King is just under 5" with a 2" diameter base. Recommend chessboard squares would be 2.5" wide. They are in their original leatherette covered hinged cardboard box a fleur-de-lis design and the Gallant Knight Logo. This design was first produced by The Gallant Knight Company in the 40s with this larger tournament set introduced in 1950. This set is partially hard to find. All are in good vintage condition with some signs of wear and age. Most notably one of the white bishops has a scratch and black mark and both white castles have a slight yellowing. A few others also have tiny minor marks as to be expected. The box is in good shape overall with some marks, surface tears and a faded sticker on one side.
