Description: FUJI/FPO - Bushnell Custom 7x35 7.40* FoV w/Case & Caps: Cleaned & Enhanced. Made by Fuji Photo Optical (FPO), a.k.a. FUJINON for the import company Dave Bushnell started right after the war (World War Two for those under, say, 35), this little set is now superb optically after a careful cleaning to include blackening sides of genuine Japanese Bak-4 prisms. Mechanically it is also excellent while cosmetically speaking the sole disgrace is the (then all too typical) electric penciling of a previous owner's initials and (possibly) his service # on both sides of the right barrel. Does naught to affect functionality and, to some minds, is quite quaint. It is testament to simpler times when things were, not only made to last, but when folks could put their Social(ist) Security # on such luxury items they dearly cherished without worrying about identity theft. Then again, they actually believed it was obscene to allow men to play in womens sports and that affirmative action meant NO consideration of race when hiring or for college entrance! And they supported their local police... Meanwhile, if you are looking for a superb example of a classic vintage binocular by one of the top firms, well here ya go. Will certainly out last you and your grandkids if given a modicum of TLC and once every 20 years or so cleaning. Made around 1966, per the original instruction pamphlet, they've already served nearly six decades! No objective lens caps but does have a repaired Bushnell rain guard to protect those near pristine lenses. With the objective lenses being internally coated with violet colored UV protection, and the oculars amber coated, you get an early form of multi-coating and, so I've read, can see a few more stars.
