Description: French Faience Majolica Asparagus Serving Plate with Gothic Border, Antique and Rare, circa 1880 This stunning Majolica Asparagus Service Platter – possibly from La Faïencerie d’Onnaing - is a rare treat. Onnaing plates are known for their cheerful themes and bright, colorful patterns, and this Asparagus Service Plate does not disappoint. Bright red berries on the vine and four purple-tipped asparagus stalks in relief are showcased in the deep sauce well. Inspection reveals crazing on the back, along with some very old tape, scuffing and small cracks along the foot ring, but no other damage. No signature or other maker's mark are visible on the bottom.
