Austro-Hungarian American film and stage actor with a successful career, first in Europe, then in the United States. In the late 1930s Lederer began to expand his character parts to include villains. Edward G. Robinson praised Lederer’s performance as a German American Bundist in Confessions of a Nazi Spy in 1939. He also played Count Dracula in the 1958 movie, The Return of Dracula. Later in life Lederer appeared on television shows such as in Mission Impossible and The Untouchables. His final television appearance was in a 1971 episode of Rod Serling’s Night Gallery called The Devil is Not Mocked where he reprised his role as Dracula from The Return of Dracula. John Payne. (1912-1989). Masculine leading man of the 1940s, often opposite Betty Grable. He gave a memorable performance in The Razor's Edge. In the 1950s he switched to Westerns. 6x4.5 green album sheet signed in black fountain pen ink by Francis Lederer. Collector's notes along top margin state the signature was obtained on January 2, 1938 at NBC. On the verso is the ink signature of John Payne. In very good condition.
