The transfer case is not sitting on the shelf ready to go. This is why there's a long handling time. Can be Modified to fit - TR-4050, TH400, 4L80e, NV4500 (GM works, dodge is best). At a minimum, Transfer Case Solutions highly recommends powder coating your case with the full corrosion resistance package. It will stop the cast iron from continuing to rust and protect it from all elements, including your leaky engine oil and road salt. It's far stronger and superior to paint. The transfer case will come completely drained. It is your responsibility to fill the transfer case to the appropriate level with the appropriate oil.
