These traditional dishes are used for enjoying olives, which are bountiful in Spain. The larger part of the dish is for serving your olives, while the small round compartment of the tray can be used for setting aside the olive pits. On the back of the tray it is marked "Senile Cruz Spain," which is a Spanish family-owned workshop there. There is one very tiny chip in the edge as shown that should not affect your ability to use the tray as designed.
