It comes loaded with a black ink and a medium point ink cartridge. This is a retractable pen with top button advance and a side button release. This pen is 5-1/4" long and the barrel is .315, which is about the size of a standard sized pen maybe a little on the slim side with a tapered grip and a pocket clip. It comes with a gift box and sleeve. The Shuttle Series pens come in chrome, chrome with gold grid, chrome with back grid, and matte black with chrome trim. The standard Fisher “SPR Series” Refills were developed for NASA and have been used on EVERY Space Shuttle mission both American and Russian. They are hermetically sealed with a specially formulated thixotropic ink and pressurized to about 35 PSI. They are the only refills that will write at any angle because they do not rely on gravity.
