Description: Extremely Scarce Airline Book - BLUEBIRDS by John Wegg - LIMITED EDITION - only 1000 printed!. Here is a very rare opportunity for you to acquire a copy of 'Bluebirds' by the late John Wegg. This is Wegg's wonderfully illustrated comprehensive history of the Sud Aviation SE210 Caravelle in Finnair Service published in 1985. It was a limited edition - only 1000 copies were printed. What you are looking at here is EVEN RARER than the standard printed book and possibly the one and only 'Review Copy,' provided by Finnair (the printers) for showing to potential sales outlets. John Wegg (who self-published the book), may even have handled the marketing himself. There are a number of minor differences from the standard edition (which I also own a copy of) - here is a summary: There is a 'Review Copy Only' sticker on the preliminary. Being a review copy, it was likely taken from the early stages of the print run and as a result has a few minor defects as follows: There is no title page, although being a copy of this nature, this may have been deliberate. The first thirteen pages had some rough splicing at their foot which is most noticeable on the 'Foreword.' Here the page had torn where it had been connected to the following page and the section has been subsequently positioned carefully back into it's correct place. Pages 117 to 120 have some additional paper reinforcement at the foot of these pages. I do not know the reason for this but it may have been that these pages were initially connected and had to be spliced apart. Other than the above (all of which can be viewed in the photo images supplied) the book is in excellent condition. The Dust Jacket is complete with only one closed tear and a tiny bit of loss on the front to the left and a similar closed tear on the rear (see images). It is enclosed in a removeable see-through plastic cover for protection. The boards on all the books in the production run were untitled as they are on this one. In addition to the comprehensive history of the Caravelle in Finnar service and Mike Machat's superb colour imagery, there are many black and white photos of Caravelles in action. There are chapters on the background to the Caravelle design and another that includes a performance comparison with other contemporary short haul airliners of the era. The appendices are amazing, covering major characteristics of the aircraft, specifications, performance, individual histories of each aircraft including their life after Finnair to withdrawal and scrapping, (with a photo of each individual airframe included) and a complete record of charter operations with Finnair Caravelles after 1960. Grab this one while you can! (Please note this 'Buy It Now' price is non-negotiable owing to the rarity of the book) Postage to the UK is free and will be by Royal Mail First Class Signed For (with Tracking) Purchases from overseas are subject to the usual costs associated with the Ebay Global Shipping Program.
