Description: This is a wonderful and finely detailed Vintage Old Asian Filipino Modern Realism Oil Painting on canvas, depicting a lively village gathering, possibly in celebration of Philippines Independence Day. Multitudes of people are visible in the background of the scene, while figures in the center foreground are roasting a suckling pig, known as lechon, and others are preparing food cooking with a large cauldron under a thatched roof canopy. The roasted pig is carefully attended to by a woman standing over it, while an older gray-haired man and a teenager wearing a straw hat attentively turn the spit. A young boy is crouched down nearby, watching hungrily from the sidelines. Banners streaming overhead bear the red, white, and blue colors of the Filipino national flag, and old colonial style homes can be seen in the distance. This artwork likely dates to the 1960's - 1970's and is signed in the lower right corner. Unfortunately, this signature is illegible to me, but perhaps you recognize the artist or their work? I have a feeling this is by an important Mabini Street painter. This is a large and impressive artwork, at approximately 24 7/8 x 60 7/8 inches (including frame.) Actual artwork is approximately 23 3/4 x 60 inches. Good condition for age, with a few areas of light nicotine residue across, minor scuffing, and light edge wear to the original period frame (please see photos.) Due to the large size of this piece, S&H costs will be unavoidably high. However, Free Local Pickup from Los Angeles County, California is also an option. Early - Mid 20th century Mabini Street Filipino artworks have garnered increasing interest among collectors and historians in recent years, as their cultural and artistic significance have now become fully appreciated. Acquired from an old estate collection in Pasadena, California. If you like what you see, I encourage you to make an Offer. Please check out my other listings for more wonderful and unique artworks! NOTE: Shipping to the Philippines is increasingly difficult and expensive, due to the eBay Global Shipping program excluding the country from their network.
