Despite the traumatic and extraordinarily concerning events of the time at that point in history that affected the price of everything, and the auction was an extraordinary success. Not all of these guns were offered in the first auction, but of those that were prices as I said were extraordinary. A rare, engraved gold inlay Colt Single Action, referred to as the “Sears & Robuck gun” had originally been purchased in the 1970s by renowned singer and gun collector Mel Torme. At the time he bought the gun for less than $2,000 and feared that he might have overpaid for it. But in spring 2009 that exact same gun brought over $750,000!! This beautiful book with phenomenal photography will truly cause a quickening of your heartbeat just because of the incredible beauty and diversity of these Colts.
