Description: This is a beautiful pair of Fine Antique Early California Mission Impressionist Oil Paintings on canvas, laid on board, by the enigmatic early California plein air painter, G.T. Gill. I did some extensive digging and could find no information on this talented painter. Perhaps you know more about them or their work? These pieces depict Impressionistic scenes of two historic California Missions. The piece on the left is titled in graphite on the verso: "Father's Flower Garden at Capistrano," and the piece on right is titled in graphite on the verso, "Gate of Carmel Mission." Both artworks are signed: "G.T. Gill" at the lower edges, and likely date to the 1930's - early 1940's. The artwork on the left is approximately 10 3/4 x 12 3/4 inches (including frame.) Actual artwork is approximately 8 x 10 inches. The artwork on the right is approximately 12 7/8 x 10 3/4 inches (including frame.) Actual artwork is approximately 8 x 10 inches. Good condition for 80+ years of age and storage, with some faint brown speckles of soiling to the painted canvases, light edge wear and scuffing, and mild scuffing, edge wear and gilding loss to the original period gilded wood frames. Acquired from an old collection in Pasadena, California. If you like what you see, I encourage you to make an Offer. Please check out my other listings for more wonderful and unique artworks!
