Description: This is a fine antique chopper beautifully signed by W. ASH & Co. with an impressed serrated rectangular mark. This steel bladed food chopper has a turned hickory handle. This nice everyday kitchen tool was made by an excellent craftsperson who created a beautiful contrast between the silver steel color blade and the old nutty brown hickory handle. Most interesting is that the blade is signed by the maker. I date this piece be circa 1830 and has been well-preserved since then. Indeed it was in use for almost 200 years. It came right out of a Cape Cod kitchen in an Estate sale up the street. Good Condition: Worn chip on one tip of the blade Some very small roughness in areas of the blade 6.2” Long 5.6” Wide (blade) 4.7” Wide (Handle)
