Description: Well-painted 1890s watercolor landscape of a woman walking next to a canal by listed Syracuse artist and museum director Fernando A. Carter (1855-1931). The subject of a recent exhibition at the Onondaga Historical Association, Carter taught at Syracuse University and was director of the Syracuse Museum of Fine Arts. He was a member of the Century Club and exhibited at the New York Watercolor Society. This watercolor is signed lower left and appears to be dated '96. It measures 15.5" x 13.75" (sight size). It is in good condition apart from a break in the watercolor board in the upper right corner. Framed as shown. Please see my other auctions for more fine paintings and prints.
