Description: For sale is a one-of-a-kind vintage Faema E-61 that retains much of its original 1960s charm with the addition of practical modern upgrades. The end-product is a rare example of espresso history on display that's also able to keep up with the demand of a busy cafe. Pictures are of the actual machine being sold. Taken down to the frame and completely overhauled to function like a new machine. The boiler, groups, plumbing, hydraulics, and electricals have all been reworked. Boiler and heat exchangers are absolutely spotless. Heat exchangers are spiral design - quite unusual and unique. The bodies of the two E-61 group-heads are original with all new internals to extract the perfect espresso. Every seal and gasket is new on the machine. To allow this vintage beauty to keep up with its modern counterparts, a Gicar automatic refill system was retrofitted in conjunction with a level probe and Parker re-fill valve. The mercury pressure-stat was swapped out for a modern MATER XP110 pressure-stat. Heating Element is controlled by a OMRON Solid-State Relay and heatsink. The entire wiring harness has been re-done. Additionally, the backlight is now LED and can be controlled via remote with several color options and lighting effects. With the Gicar update, the machine will maintain the proper water level in the steam boiler automatically. The original design of the machine required the operator to manually monitor water levels and pull a lever to manually refill. The manual refill function is retained with the upgrade. With the MATER XP110 and OMRON SSR, the machine is easier to maintain and source parts for if the need arises. Cup warming feature has been removed however the knob/valve is kept in place. The cup warming tray gets plenty hot from the heat that radiates off the boiler beneath.
