My S84/98-III Bayonet stand is one of the 3 most popular stands with over 250 sold to date. And now there's a MCHS Bayonet stand for the WWI collector no matter which German WWI/WWII bayonets are in your collection. When it comes to the bayonets that the Reich Heer used with Gewehr 88 - you name it, they used it! 1871, S71/98, S71/84, Sg1914 Wood Handle Ersatz and the S88/98 all steel ersatz were the most common The German Ersatz (substitute) type Bayonets were constructed during the early years of WWI and were designed to fit both the Gewehr 88 (M1888 Commission r__fle) and Gewehr 98 (M98 Mauser Gewehr 98) German r fles. The other r _ fle most commonly associated with WWI was the Gewehr 98. The GEW98 is most closely associated with the 98/05 "Butcher Blade" bayonet and the S84/98 -I & II, the precursors to the WWII S84/98-III. The "Butcher Blade" 98/05 was also used on the M88 although it was a loose fit on the M88. Better suited to the Gewehr M98. The GEW88 had a "Right Side mounted" Bayonet whereas the GEW98's bayonet was mounted underneath the barrel. HOW TO ORDER: Using the drop down menu on the listing chose the folowing: 1) Wood Plaque finish. - Available in a Black top wth wood trim or the "Old World Custom" finish. You can see pic of both.2) Choose the GEW88 stand, The GEW 98 stand, or the Turkish M35 stand. (more on that to follow).3) Choose with or without scabbard holder. If you're lucky enough to have a scabbard for your 100 + year old bayonet you may want to display it also. If so it requires a larger plaque (9" x 7' x 3/4") and of course, the bayonet holder. You'll have to message me or include a note when you order if you want a Floor model scabbard holder ( if you don't have a frog) or the "High Top" holder if you do have a frog. The pictures will explain. **** Turkish M35 Bayonet stand. Many of the WWI bayonets used by Germany and Turkey in WWI were later modified by the Turks to their standard for the M1903/30 redesign to the Turkish M1938 R_fle. The M1938 had it's own Turkish Bayonet, the M1935. But as all bayonet collectors know, they modified many types of bayonets by shortening them to 10", replacing the guard or Muzzle ring with the larger M35 configuration. These bayonets will not fit the GEW88 or 98 stands so I figured it's only fair to offer the M35 stand to those of us who do collect the "Turked" Imperial Bayonets. There was another modification they did on other German Ersatz bayonets in order to fit the Czech VZ98/22. This entailed removing the Muzzle ring altogether making and grinding it back to mount like a German S84/98 or 98/05. I have a picture of one in this listing. It's an EB14 type, shortened to 10". I recommend a GEW98 for that type of Turlish moded bayonet.
