Elegant Antique Vintage 1912 "Russwin" Bronze Entry Door Knob & Plate

Description: About this Item: This is an impressive and elegant Antique Entrance-Way Door plate, lock and knob. The plate and knob are substantial cast bronze weighing 4 pounds! The casting is incredibly detailed and of the highest quality. Of particular interest is the "1912" cast into a laurel wreath design on the bottom of the plate and the cast letters "F,S,T & A" overlapping themselves surrounded by an identical wreath on the top of the late. On the side of the plate the words "8th FLOOR" is inscribed. This was made by the Russwin company and their name is inscribed on the lock. The plate has a series of patent dates inscribed on the back "PATENTED APR 19,1904, AUG 30 1904 MAY 16 1905 AND OTHERS" The lock is a 2 button lock and if fully functional. I do not have the key. NOTE: This is for the interior of a main entry door. You could use the plate with or without the lock, they are separate pieces connected on the back with two simple screws. The plate is 10" long by 3 7/8" wide and it is 5/8" deep. The knob is 2 1/2" in diameter and stands 3 1/4" beyond the doorplate. PS: The Russwin's company's story began when Henry Russell and Cornelius Erwin began manufacturing plate locks. In 1902, their company merged with P. and F. Corbin, originally founded in 1849 by Philip and Frank Corbin and Ed Doen, to form The American Hardware Corporation.After a series of acquisitions, in 1964 American Hardware was acquired by the Emhart Corporation. Later, Black and Decker purchased the company and combined the Corbin and Russwin brands to form Corbin Russwin.
