Description: A beautiful early map of America, South America & Africa - most likely 18th century. The map seems to be written in Latin, "Americae", and provides wonderful detail of 3 men and one woman holding a spear with volcanoes erupting in the background, fine coloring using green, red, yellow & orange. Being a very old map, you will find foxing, soil spots, discoloration as well as some tearing and/or fold marks along the edges of the mat, and a tear/hole (that looks patched up from the back reinforcement) around the bottom middle edge of the mat. There is also a reinforcement along the back. Please view all pictures! By sight, the map is 21" x 18", matted to overall size of just under 22 1/2" x 19 3/4". This map, along with others, came from a collection from a wealthy estate in NJ. A gorgeous early map for any collector! Recently “picked” from the Greater Philadelphia area, I personally hand select each antique, piece of art, jewelry or any other item of interest myself.
