J.C.These antique tins are well used and as a result have scratches, dings, paint spots and other imperfections. There may be a small amount of dried residue in each can. Having said that, they display nicely.The company was founded in 1907 as the National Lead Co. The Dutch Boy icon was originally created to symbolize a superior method for creating paint products known as the "Dutch Process". The "Dutch Process" originated with two chemists in 16th century Holland and set the standard of paint quality and beauty for centuries to come.The boy in the Dutch Boy logo was painted by artist Lawrence Carmichael Earle. Ironically, Michael E. Brady, the nine-year-old boy who became the inspiration for the famous Dutch Boy Trademark, was not Dutch at all, but an Irish-American who lived near the artist commissioned to creat the logo.
