Description: Title: Early Toleware Document Box Description: Presented for your consideration is this EARLY antique toleware document box. The tin box is shaped like a treasure chest and is painted black with a ornate design painted in dark gold on the front. Also on the front is a latch with a loop for a lock to be placed through it, if desired. The latch easily opens and closes. The hinged lid also opens and closes easily. This box would have originally held documents such as deed. Guaranteed to be old. Dates to about the 1850s. This neat box would make a nice addition to any primitive or toleware collection! Some dinging is on the top of the lid and the front edge of the lid has some bending. Some paint wear is present throughout. Light oxidation is on the bottom. Typical wear from age and use. Overall in GOOD-VERY GOOD condition for being nearly 200 years old. Sold as found. Please refer to the photos for the best details. Measures 8 5/8" wide, 4 1/4" deep and 5 1/4" tall.
