Description: Please check my other items for more snuff boxes. Circular brass snuff box circa 1806 commemorating the death of a statesman, the Right Honourable Charles James Fox. Fox served as an MP for 38 years and held high office although was in opposition for much of his parliamentary career. He was a noted campaigner for anti-slavery and supported the French Revolution. The box has his embossed bust portrait to the lid with a Greek key pattern running around the sides.Measures 55 x 23 mm and weighs 58 grams. In good antique condition, I have left it unpolished showing it’s natural patina and some verdigris but this could obviously be buffed by a new owner if desired.
