EAPG Clear "Minerva" Pattern Creamer from The Boston and Sandwich Glass Co.

Description: This wonderful clear creamer in the "Minerva" pattern created by The Boston and Sandwich Glass Co. is one of the great patterns of the 1870s. The body has a nice, slightly faired, shape with 3 classical images in 3 ovals around the body along with decretive beading throughout the body. The handle is pressed with beading on side causing a very dramatic effect. The foot is clear and domed with no pattern. This great "Minerva" pattern creamer stands 5-1/2" HOA to top of handle and is 5-1/4" wide (handle to spout.) This piece is undamaged and has the typical wear you would see on the bottom of the foot. As with almost all items made of glass in the 19th and early 20th century: tiny bubbles, annealing lines, straw marks, mold roughness, slight lean, etc., is common and not considered damage to the piece. Most Early American Pattern Glass was made by hand in the United States starting in the 19th century and ending in the first quarter of the 20th century. I feel that this is part of our heritage when we as a country produced much of our glassware. Now most of it is made overseas and we seem to have left this craft behind.
