Description: "Eagles Prey" by Rick Herter. Corners/edges have creases. Would be covered when framed "Eagles Prey." This is one of six paintings/poster images from my 1991 Desert Storm Series. In this scene an Eagle from the 1st. Fighter Wing is about to "bounce" an Iraqi MiG-29 scooting low across the desert floor. Due to publishing deadlines I had to paint the scene even before the actual air war was underway! Though the 1st FW never achieved such a kill, the 33rd FW scored several victories, like the one depicted, over Iraqi jets trying to escape to Iran late in the war. Of historical note. The 1st FW, 71st Fighter Squadron scored one of the first kills of the war on the opening night of the air attacks over Baghdad. Michigan native and a friend, Capt. Steve "Tater" Tate shot down an Iraqi Mirage F-1 over Baghdad in the middle of the night. His kill would be the only one for the 1st Fighter Wing over the course of the war.
