Description: DRAWING CLOSER THE PAINTINGS AND PERSONAL REFLECTIONS OF CAROLYN BLISH With Elise Maclay ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Hardcover with unclipped dust jacket; 152 pages; Size Approx. 10 1/4 X 9 3/4. Published by The Greenwich Workshop Press; copyright 1997, First Printing. Details: "An artist does not roll the dice on a stretched piece of canvas or a sheet of watercolor papter, hoping for luck. Art begins and proceeds from a genuine belief and the desire to express it. Technique allows an artist to paint...but it is love that truly makes any painting art. For artist Carolyn Blish, the relationships between the creation of art and the act of faith are more than just casual; they have many parallels. Faith is believing in the finished painting...seeing an unseen reality; hope is the pigment, and conviction is applying it to the canvas. The elements of sugject, composition and even color, which are essential to a quality work, are also visible in our lives. 'Purple alone is pretty, but place mint green alongside and the purple becomes glorious. Sometimes we need to be a green in a purple person's life.' Drawing Closer presents a joyous outlook on faith through the life and work of Carolyn Blish. Her art has become as familiar to us as the subjects she paints: children filled with wonder, lavish florals and windswept dunes convey a heartfelt message about her faith. Share in this baptism of spirit and love that makes any life a work or art." (from the dust jacket flap) The book has a tan hard cover binding with a picture of a child on the front cover; brown lettering on front cover and spine; beautiful illustrations in color. A fine addition for your bookshelf! Condition: The book is in very good condition with a firm binding and clean pages. The dust jacket has a sticker on the back; short edge tears at the spine ends; otherwise it is in good condition.* * * * * * * * Note: The letter/number at the end of the title line for this listing is just an inventory code for locating the book. ______________________________________ Free Domestic Economy Shipping! Be assured that we want your experience with Rivendell Antiquarian Books to be enjoyable and problem free. We appreciate the impact a good book can have. We know the excitement of a new page turner, or the familiar joy of an old favorite, and we find satisfaction in putting older, and often scarce books in the hands of people who have the same love for old books that we do.Customer Service:Rivendell Antiquarian Books is committed to ensuring each customer is entirely satisfied with their puchase and our service. If you have any issues or concerns please contact us and we will be more than happy to help. Our books have been inspected carefully by hand by experienced book valuers to ensure the condition description is as accurate as possible for this exact copy pictured. If you have questions about the book before or after purchasing, please feel free to contact us!Packaging:We take pride in packaging our books for safe delivery, and if you check our feedback, you will see this reflected in the comments of many pleased customers. For nearly all of our books, we use a specially designed boxing system from IPS (Inovative Packaging Solutions) located in York, PA. These media shipping boxes are designed to conform to the size of the book, securing it and preventing it from bumping around during shipping. The end result is a box which provides a double thickness of cardboard covering the front and back of the book; actually almost like a box within a box. The outer layer of cardboard extends beyond the ends of the inner "box" which very efficiently protects the corners of the book from being bumped and damaged by the sometimes rough handling packages receive in transit. In addition we place the book in a plastic bag to help guard against moisture if a package is left out in the elements.Delivery:We aim to get all books shipped within 24 hours of order except on weekends. We can't control the delivery time once a book leaves our hands, but most of the time USPS is prompt in delivery, and the expected delivery time given by eBay is usually fairly accurate. Because we use media mail to keep costs down, it does take a little longer for delivery, and occasionally packages get delayed in the mail system. If for some reason your order has not arrived within the expected time frame, please get in contact with us so that we can try to help you.
