Description: Dragon Armor M4A3 (76)W VVSS ShermanNo. 60164, Vintage Year - 2006OUT OF PRODUCTION Scale - 1:72 Unit - 19th Tank Bn., 9th Armored Division - the "Phantom Division" was activated in July 1942 and went overseas in August 1944. It participated in campaigns including Rhineland, Ardennes-Alsace and Central Europe. It was cited for extraordinary heroism and gallantry in combat in Luxembourg (16-22 December 1944) during which they repulsed constant attacks by an entire German division. They were outnumbered five to one and this widely dispersed force stopped every attack for six days, helping to disrupt the German attack schedule and buy time for the III and XII Corps to break the siege at Bastogne. Campaign - Belgium 1944 - The division first went into line in October 1944 and was on patrol duty in a quiet sector along the Luxembourg-German border. It was suddenly engulfed in the Ardennes Offensive and saw its toughest fighting at St. Vith, Echternach and Bastogne. The stand at Bastogne held off the Germans long enough to allow the 101st Airborne to prepare for a defense of the city. After a rest in January 1945, the division fought on to the Roer River in February and then onto Remagen. Markings - Olive green, black and dark tan camouflage applied to the vehicle. Exceptional weathering, detailed tools, headlights/tail lights, 50 cal MG mounted on the top of the turret, visible weld marks on the hull, vision blocks, bogies, and tracks. Model - M4A3 (76) W VVSS - the Ford GAA V-8 model had a welded hull and either a 75 or 76 mm M1 cannon. This tank features a 76 mm gun and was the preferred U.S. Army tank. Both the M4A3 (76) W and the M4A3E4 used the 76 mm M1 gun and other versions used the 75 mm M3 gun or a 105 mm howitzer (M4A3(105)). Condition - Like new with minor wear on box.
