Description: NATO's annual submarine warfare exercise DOGFISH is held in the Mediterranean Sea. The exercise involves submarines, surface ships, maritime patrol aircraft and helicopters from various nations and conducted advanced anti-submarine warfare operations aimed at improving co-operation in various operational environments. The exercise started in 1975 and continues today. Starting in 2005 due to NATO regulations exercises must now consist of two words to identify the location of the commanding element and the general type of mission type, such as air, land or sea based.
