Deans was a prolific goalscorer for Celtic in the 1970's under the management of Jock Stein. He is the only player in Scottish football history to score a hat trick in two major cup finals, a feat he acheived in the 1972 Scottish Cup final and the 1974 Scottish League Cup final, both times against Hibernian.
