Description: Disney The Little Mermaid VHS 'banned' artwork.Black Diamond edition All are in excellent condition for their age. You might not receive the one pictured, but it will be just as nice or even better. DESCRIPTION: It is a Limited-Edition Little Mermaid Black Diamond VHS that was banned due to its scandalous cover art. One of the spires looks like a male human body part and not one that should be on the front of a Disney VHS video cover or associated with a G-rated Disney movie. The Little Mermaid was first released in theaters worldwide in 1989, but it wasn't until May 1990 that Disney made it available on VHS as part of the Walt Disney Classics line. However, shortly after the tape started making its way into people's hands, a controversy was born. People noticed that there was a phallic shaped structure on the golden castle. In the far background, situated just between Triton and Ursula, is a golden castle with tall cylindrical spires, which look like phallic symbols. Disney pulled this version of the artwork & it was never seen again, thus why this cover is known as the original or the 'banned' artwork. This rare VHS tape of the beloved Disney classic, The Little Mermaid, features a unique banned cover from the Black Diamond edition. The film follows the adventures of Ariel, a mermaid who dreams of living on land and falls in love with a human prince. Fans of animation and fairy tales, especially those who collect rare items, will appreciate the opportunity to own this piece of Disney history. Despite its age, the tape is in very good condition and will provide hours of entertainment for the whole family. Don't miss your chance to add this rare VHS tape to your collection!
