Jay Arellano (Reader, Beginner) Nov 8 2022 10:52AM My Flight Ratings 3/2.5/0/3Neutral This has to be the most underrated disc in discrafts lineup. I love shallow putters and this feels perfect in the hand. I putt with rubber blend glow ringer gts and drive/approach with z flex and esp. these discs in premium plastic are dependably stable aren't too glidey and hold straight before ending with a nice smooth finish. In more base plastics (xsoft, jawbreaker, rubber blend). These are perfect putting putters. In rubber blend they beat in to a neutral disc and just sort of hold that seasoning. The thumb track is great and their lack of glide really gives me confidence on long putts. Chase Braswell Chase Braswell (Review Participant, L2, Advanced) Jul 26 2021 11:56AM My Flight Ratings 3/2/0/3Somewhat Beginner Friendly The Ringer GT is an extremely dependable overstable putter! The flight is most similar to a zone, but they are completely different discs. This a shallow, low profile putter with a slightly rounded underside on the rim. The groove top is more comparable to the feel of an Innova Rhyno than a Banger Gt or Buzzz Gt. This disc has a slow flight, and will fade every single time even into a headwind. The glide is extremely low making it easier to dial in your approach shots. I would not recommend using this disc as a putting putter except maybe in extremely windy conditions. This disc feels equally comfortable for forehand and backhand shots. I bag both the Zone and Ringer Gt. Though similar, I feel like I can trust the Ringer GT to not skip and also not travel nearly as far. marktheshark marktheshark (Review Participant, L2, Intermediate) Nov 2 2020 8:41AM My Flight Ratings 3/3/0/2.5Somewhat Beginner Friendly Been waiting to pick up a Z FLX at max weight, because I've heard great things about it. (Mine is an X-soft 173 grams.) I got one of these because I wanted something slightly less stable than my zones, and this really works. I've had it for a little over a month now, and it has beat in to have a dead straight flight with tiny fade. I wouldn't necessarily reccomend this in the X Soft plastic because it's not a great putting putter and as a throwing putter it needs more durability than the X Soft will give it. However, I do see the great qualities about this disc, which is why it still gets 4 out of 5. It shines as an approach disc, awkward at first with the thumbtrack, which gives it a very shallow rim. This thing works perfect for both forehand and backhand, with the stability to handle the torque of a powerful shot. I think Chris from Cheating Lefty Disc Golf describes it as a "Baby Zone" which is exactly right. If you want more controlled stability with the low glide and torque resistance of a Zone, try one of these. Note: An odd thing i've noticed is that the outside rim almost looks identical to a prodigy PA-3, but it feels nothing like it. Myles Graber Myles Graber (Reader, Beginner) Sep 17 2020 9:32PM My Flight Ratings 3/3/0/3Very Beginner Friendly When I first got this disc, I initially didn't think I would like it. The thumbtrack over the top was something I'd never thrown with before, and I've never really given a beaded putter a chance. But I thought I'd give it a round, and it instantly became my main putter over my Fierce and my Challenger SS. I love how this disc feels in my hand, I love the jawbreaker plastic, and the overstable flight is just so natural and smooth to me. If you're skeptical of giving this disc a try because it's shaped slightly differently, it's definitely worth the chance. You very well might be pleasantly surprised like I was. Phoenix o2o Phoenix o2o (Review Enthusiast, L4, Intermediate) Aug 13 2020 2:38PM My Flight Ratings 3/3/0/3Somewhat Beginner Friendly The moment I got this putter I was immediately taken by the feel of it in my hand (I don't have the biggest hands). It felt very different from the other putters in my bag as it was slimmer and has the ridge cut into the top of it. I love the feeling of the Jawbreaker plastic because it seems soft enough to grip the chains but strong enough to survive a decent tree hit. Putts wonderfully. The lack of glide means its hard for me to be in danger from an overpowered toss and it dies quickly when it hits the ground. Where this putter really shines for me is when I drive with it. I can get a good rip on it with max power and send it 330 ft on a dead straight line without having to hyzer flip it. Love it so much I'm looking into buying more of them to build an arsenal of backups. MrDrProfPaddy MrDrProfPaddy (Reviewer Elite L9, Intermediate) Aug 13 2020 8:28AM My Flight Ratings 3/2/0/3Not Beginner Friendly Z Flx Ringer GT - This is a fairly glideless or low-glide approach disc (especially in Z FLX). You won't be able to throw this very far, which is good when you're trying to ensure that you won't throw past the basket. This disc hovers between approach and utility for me. My Zone was more workable and adaptable both for approaches and off the tee, so I found myself reaching for the Zone more often than the Ringer GT, and I wasn't ever really sure that the Ringer did anything particular better for me. I did find it very comfortable in the hand due to the recessed top. 4/5 because of it's limited usefulness, but that's just my opinion. Nuclear Blobfish Nuclear Blobfish (Review Nut, L7, Intermediate) Jul 26 2020 6:37PM My Flight Ratings 3/2/0/2Somewhat Beginner Friendly I have the Ringer GT in all of the available plastics: Jawbreaker, X-Soft, and Z-FLX, and I love all of them. The Z-FLX has a noticeably smaller amount of glide and is a touch more overstable. The jawbreaker and X-soft are very similar in flight, but the feel is different. X-Soft is a bit tacky like an eraser and jawbreaker is a little more like a lacrosse ball. I currently bag two Ringer GT's. I always have a ZFLX on hand and depending on the weather, I'll bag an x-soft or jawbreaker. Usually I have the jawbreaker because it feels more comfortable on upshots, but if it's dusty, I'll swap the jawbreaker out for an x-soft. The Ringer GT is very similar to the Innova Rhyno. The rhyno has less glide, but otherwise, they feel very similar in hand, and I have two rhynos in my practice putter stack with 6 ringer gt's. The raised thumbrack is everything about this disc. If you like that sort of thing (or you like the rhyno), this disc is phenomenal. If you are looking for a depressed groove for your thumb, then try the Banger GT because it's TOTALLY DIFFERENT. I love the Ringer GT for its ability to fly deadly straight like an Innova Mako and I feel like the thumbtrack gives me extra control on my touch shots. The zflx ringer gt is not as overstable as a zone, but it is great for shots where you want to limit the glide and drop the disc with accuracy. The jawbreaker and x-soft will glide a bit more and fly very straight and end neutral. If I was one-discing it, you can be certain that I'd choose a ringer gt. Clay Siegrist Clay Siegrist (Reader, Beginner) Jun 10 2020 8:14PM My Flight Ratings 3/3/0/3Very Beginner Friendly Amazing throwing disc just enough fade to get good hyzers on long putts. Also a very good throwing putter in the ZFlx comparable to the zone in my eyes. Overall amazing disc walker tx discgolfer walker tx discgolfer (Reviewer Class 5, Intermediate) May 10 2020 7:41AM My Flight Ratings 3/3/0/3Somewhat Beginner Friendly This disc is money. I've been throwing the Zone for the last few years, but I tried this out of curiosity, and I think this disc will take the Zone's spot b/c it doesn't dump as hard and feels more shapeable. I got it in Jawbreaker plastic, and the flights are straight with a little fade at the end. I love the thinner profile b/c I use the fan grip for my upshots, and it feels great in the hand. I'm usually not a fan of beads, but it's small and not noticeable. I think this will be my go-to for upshots within 150 feet, maybe longer.. Cheating Lefty Cheating Lefty (Reviewer Elite L9, Intermediate) Dec 6 2019 3:48PM My Flight Ratings 3/3/0/3Somewhat Beginner Friendly The Ringer GT (especially in the Z Flx plastic) is the best approach putting in the game! It doesn't matter if you are throwing with no wind or into a 30mph headwind, the Ringer GT in Z Flx will fly exactly the same! And in the softer plastic it will not skip and stay right where it lands! The ONLY downside is that in Z Flx, there is no glide at all, so it will fall out of the sky pretty quick. NDH NDH (Review Supporter, L3, Intermediate) Aug 10 2019 10:30PM My Flight Ratings 3/3/0/3Neutral This is my go to for putting and up shots. Absolutely love the jawbreaker plastic. They are also great off the tee. They felt odd in the hand at first but very easy to get a clean release while putting. Cameron Bugg Cameron Bugg (Reader, Intermediate) Jul 10 2019 7:51AM My Flight Ratings 3/3/0/2.5Neutral The Ringer GT in the jawbreaker plastic is my absolute favorite putter. Like most people I use this disc for up shots and off the tee under 250 ft. This disc isn't quite as over stable as a zone or a harp, but still plenty stable enough for flicks and power grips off the tee. Unlike most people, I also use this disc as my main putting putter. It holds up well in the wind and i always know exactly where its going when it leaves my hand. This is an absolute money disc for me in every capacity. seandiscs seandiscs (Reader, Intermediate) Jul 8 2019 5:43AM My Flight Ratings 3/3/0/3Neutral The Ringer GT is a fantastic approach disc, and a great throwing/driving putter as well. The groove top means this putter has a much shallower rim compared to standard P&A disc like the Magnet. This small rim is much more comfortable in the hand and allows for a cleaner release when throwing, similar to a midrange. Jawbreaker plastic has a look and feel that I personally love; good grip and texture. The disc is overstable, with a consistent right to left flight (RHBH) that I can trust everytime. Jace Smellie Jace Smellie (Review Extraordinaire, L11, Intermediate) Jun 12 2017 10:08PM My Flight Ratings 3/4/0/2.5Somewhat Beginner Friendly So after playing a round with the Ringer-GT, I liked it a lot. I feel like it is an easy disc to like. It fit well in my hand, released well, and flew well. I wouldn't say it's much of a putting putter, but more of an approach disc. It isn't crazy overstable. It has a nice straight flight, with a fade that isn't dumpy, but gradual. I have mixed feelings about Grove Top discs. There have been quite a few recently released, and I haven't been a huge fan of how some of them have fit in my hand. But I think Discraft has the GT molding figured out. I liked the way the Thumb track on the Ringer-GT fit in my hand. It felt natural, while other grove tops have felt more unnatural, at least to me. To be honest, the flight really doesn't offer anything new to the putt and approach market. There are several discs out there that I think fit this flight slot, and the Ringer-GT probably won't be finding a space in my personal bag, but here are some of the key characteristics that I think may help you decide if this disc is worth seeing if it might replace what you have doing the duties in your bag right now. I already mentioned the grove top. If you haven't tried one of those yet, give it a shot. The other thing is Discraft's plastic. I tried it out in X Soft, but all of Discraft's plastics are so good, and I'm sure this disc will be great as it is released in other plastics. Also, the one thing that I like the least about the disc that may be a good thing for others, it is a shallow putter. I prefer deeper ones, but that's just me. Anyway, it is a great disc, and I don't see anyone being unhappy with their purchase of a Ringer-GT. Enjoy it! Alan Barker Alan Barker (Review King, L14, Advanced) Jun 5 2017 11:30AM My Flight Ratings 3/2/0/2Neutral I'm a big fan of the Ringer GT. I love thin low profile approach discs for approach shots and really enjoyed the thumbtrack groove on the top of the Ringer GT. I normally struggle to forehand any disc in a soft plastic, but had no problems throwing sidearm throws with the super flat thin profile of the Ringer GT. When throwing it, I felt like I was Ricky Wysocki flicking his Wesside Harps. I was actually pretty surprised at how straight this disc flew, and was expecting it to be substantially more overstable. While it never turned over on me, with a slight hyzer release on forehand throws this disc goes dead straight with a very moderate end of flight fade. The Ringer GT has very little glide, and the soft plastic help it to stop without much skip at all. With a normal control throw this disc won't go more than about 220 feet for me. With the low glide, even when thrown at a hyzer the Ringer really doesn't fade a lot. As a putter, I had great success with the Ringer GT. This disc is substantially thinner than what I'm used to putting with, but the thumbtrack and bead on the bottom of the rim helped to give me a really comfortable consistent release. I made a very high percentage of putts with the Soft Ringer GT. If you're looking for an all purpose putt and approach discs that works for short drives, forehand approach shots and putting. I highly recommend the Ringer GT. Toddiovision Toddiovision (Review King, L14, Intermediate) May 27 2017 9:44PM My Flight Ratings 4/4/0/1.5Somewhat Beginner Friendly I used a Ringer GT for a combination of approaches, short drives, and for putts within the "circle" to see how Discraft's new "GT" (groove top) disc would perform under different circumstances. I expected that the Ringer GT would fly much like the new Dynamic Discs Slammer, or like the Innova Rhyno or Pig, with a somewhat beefy fade. However, for short puts, the Ringer GT flew very well, almost as straight as my Judges or Wizards. I've always been a fan of beaded putters, and the Ringer GT has a nice bead on the bottom of the rim, as well as the thumb groove (much better placed than on the Banger GT) which I really like. So, the putter simply felt great in my hand with very good grip and comfort. My fingers knew exactly where to go. With the flat top, I expected it to fly faster than standard putters, which it did-- this is not a great disc for lofty, slow-moving putts. However, it was not as overstable as I expected. In fact, on my approach shots and longer throws, it flew surprising straight, only fading a little at the end-of-flight. It is not really like the Slammer or Rhyno in that it is can hold a line rather faithfully. At least that was the case with the X Soft edition that I was using. Maybe the Jawbreaker plastic is more overstable? For short forehand throws I felt like the Ringer GT was just as easy to throw with precision. Though I'm not an expert with the forehand, the flat disc and rim shape made it much easier for me. I give the Ringer GT five stars for being not only a comfortable disc to grip and toss, but for also taking some of the fun characteristics of other thumb track discs and making it manageable for players at all levels. If I must compare it to another disc that I've recently thrown, I'd say it is more like the Latitude 64 Caltrop, but with the addition of a bead, which for me is a huge plus!
