Description: OpenScope™ MZ Instrumentation ModuleDigilent's open-source PICMZ all-in-one instrumentation designed for on-the-go electronics projectsImage of Digilent's OpenScope MZDigilent's OpenScope MZ is a portable multi-function programmable instrumentation module. What does that mean? It is a device that connects to a computer (through Wi-Fi or a USB cable) that allows the user to acquire, analyze, visualize, and control signals from circuits, sensors, and other electronic devices. Unlike typical USB instruments, OpenScope MZ can also be programmed to run standalone like an Arduino or Raspberry Pi, but with high-speed precision analog and digital I/O. At the core of the OpenScope MZ is a powerful Microchip PIC32 MZ processor. This processor takes advantage of many resources to enable the functionalities found on OpenScope MZ. OpenScope MZ also comes with WaveForms™ Live, which is a free, open-source, JavaScript-based software that runs in a browser and is inspired by Digilent's extremely popular software tool, WaveForms 2015. Using the OpenScope + WaveForms Live, the user will be able to configure the OpenScope to be an oscilloscope, a function generator, a logic analyzer, a power supply, and even a data logger. Completely Open-SourceOpenScope MZ is created to enable everyone to learn electronics. This means that Digilent invites as many people as possible to contribute ideas and collaborate with others in order to accomplish their mission on accessibility. OpenScope MZ is designed to be as open-sourced as possible; therefore, the hardware, firmware, software, and the mechanical specifications will be made available to anyone who wants to change and/or improve upon the design. The PIC32MZ2048EFG124 device features high core performance up to 250 MHz, an integrated floating-point unit (FPU), a wide selection of peripherals, and excellent connectivity options including controller area network (CAN). This product is also available in extended operating temperature ranges meeting AEC-Q100 Grade1 specification which is ideal for several critical automotive and industrial applications that require reliable performance and robustness. In addition, the industrial temperature portfolio (-40°C to +85°C) has been selectively expanded to offer a higher-speed variant (250 MHz/795 CoreMark®). The high-speed variant is ideal for applications like high-resolution audio that require slightly higher core performance to provide faster audio processing and streaming. The PIC32MZ EF family of microcontrollers are supported by Microchip’s MPLAB® Harmony Integrated Software Framework, MPLAB X Integrated Development Environment (IDE), MPLAB XC32 compiler for PIC32, MPLAB ICD 3 In-Circuit Debugger, and MPLAB REAL ICE™ In-Circuit Emulation System.
