Description: Very nice lantern, I am no expert on these. It is either near mint condition or fully restored. I have seen some period examples with this black finish so it is totally possible that it is all original. Wick inside is like new and ready to be used. It has the rare early Dietz Fitzall New York USA/ LOC-NOB PATD 3-10-14 red glass globe. The lantern is marked Dietz /New York USA on either side of the spout and the reverse is marked Monarch. It the tubular style lantern and a popular variant. As stated condition is near mint the black paint finish is almost perfect. The red glass globe is also perfect and all marks are crisp. The only issue of note is the cap were the fluid goes is missing. For some reason these keep coming up missing I don't know why, this can be easily replaced from a broken lantern or similiar model. Just found the stem is marked with all of the dates. Patented with about 7 or 8 dates the oldest begin July 11th of it appear 1898... the final date is 8-10-33. So this must be a 1930s variant of this lantern. It was super dusty when found so I wiped it all down. It could be wiped down more but its like mint underneath. From some research appears to be mint original possibly never used. Diminishes are Height to top of lantern 14 inches / weight with handle up 19 inches. 6 inch round base. I have 1 other lantern for sale and will be posting 2x more shortly so keep me in mind and check out all my lanterns! Thanks for looking.
