The box does close, although some places the lid doesn't sit flat or flush. Please see pictures. That being said, I still think its a unique piece and looks nice. Due to differing monitors, colors may vary, but I’ve done my best to capture its true colors in the photographs. Was made in 2004 and it is engraved on the bottom with artist's initials and year.
