Description: Darklands - Scaeroc, Grymdraig of Dugadw Summary: One unpainted resin miniature for Darklands or other fantasy games.Mierce Miniatures is a new company that produces extremely high quality polyurethane resin miniatures for the Darklands wargame, as well as the BaneLegions miniature range and the Templar's Forge hobby and accessories range. Darklands is a wargame set in a fantasy world not too different from our own. Beginning in the year AD 650, Darklands will combine various fantastical and historical elements found in northwest Europe in the so-called 'Dark Ages' in a wargame that will be intuitive, fresh and interesting. Much of its setting will be known to fantasy wargamers everywhere, and thus be very easily accessible. It also has the biggest gribblies you'll see in any 30mm wargame! Of the original inhabitants of what was once called the Island of the Mighty by their ancestors the Brythoniaid are all that is left, discounting the treacherous Kernowek, for the Érainn and the Albainn and especially the Angelcynn and the Seaxans have taken great swathes of their lands for themselves. Clinging to their kingdoms that remain with rock-like intensity - Gododdin and Rheged in the old north and Powys and Glywysing and powerful Gwynedd in the west, amongst others - the Brythoniaid resist all that is thrown at them and even strike back to reclaim the kingdoms that have been lost. Ancient alliances and pacts with many of the mightiest beasts that endure still, the dragons and the wyveres and the wocors, ensure that whilst the Brythoniaid are limited in number when they are brought to battle they must still be afforded the respect they deserve. The Kingdom of Gwynedd is led by Cadwaladr ap Cadwallon, the famous Red Dragon who boasted that he would kill every Saesneg man, woman and child to reclaim the lands lost to the Brythoniaid, and yet he remains an uneasy ally of the Miercna as his father was before him. For Cadwaladr - as Cadwallon did - recognises the limitations of his people, their limited numbers and their reliance upon the ancient pacts with the dragons and their kin, and so he looks elsewhere for the strength to resist the marauding Northumbre to the east, the desperation of the Érainn to the west and the devastation wrought by the Fomoraic and the Norse beyond them. Other, more ancient pacts with the beasts of the crags and the coast are remembered and the strength of the wolf to the east is sought: for strength is something Cadwaladr knows Gwynedd and indeed all the kingdoms of the Brythoniaid need, no matter where that strength comes from, if they are to survive in this age of darkness. Scaeroc is of course Shaaroc before he was turned by Baalor to the ends of the Fomoraic; in this form he is a mighty Grymdraig of the Brythoniaid, an Ogre Dragon that breathes fire upon his enemies. Converted by Tim Prow from the artwork by Dan Warren, and of course the original miniature by Yannick Fusier!Ogre dragon with axe. Complex multi-part resin miniature, plastic base.
