Description: For sale is what can only be described as a "Encouragement" painting by the well, listed and world, renowned, contemporary, abstract, artist Brendan Cass (1974 - ) Provenance: The Estate Collection of Artist Donald Baechler(1956- 2022); Stair Galleries. Hudson New York. . This painting was made for the well-known contemporary New York artist Donald Baechler. Baechler passed away in 2022 and his collection of paintings from his artists friends were sold off recently by the estate. The painting appears to be on folded up cardboard, which has taped up edges. Enamel paint with silver enamel inscription which says: "This is for when you finish your first painting of your new series. Knowing They will be wonderful. With admiration and Care Brendan Cass" It was noted that there may be something folded up inside of the cardboard. There appears to be a slit in one side of the taped edges but we don't see anything. We have not unraveled the piece to check. Condition: Some handling wear but overall good. Unframed Measurements: 6 1/2" x 7 3/4" (approximately) Brendan Cass (b. 1974, New Jersey) is inspired by impressions and memories from postcards and images from his travels to created all-over expressionistic landscapes using layers of rich color. His landscapes are reworked to become dream-like, imaginary places. He is best known for his large-scale landscape paintings in acidic colors. Cass attended Milton Avery Graduate School of the Arts, Bard College, Annandale, New York, at School of Visual Art, New York and The SUNY Purchase, in Purchase, New York. His work has been exhibited internationally at Velge & Noirhomme in Brussels, Lars Bohman Gallery in Stockholm, Rove/Kenny Schachter in London and Stellan Holm Gallery in New York and can be found in the permanent collections of the Kemper Museum of Art in Kansas City, Missouri; the Orange County Museum of Art, Santa Ana, California; and the Denver Museum of Art, Denver, Colorado. McClain Gallery included Cass’ work in several group shows including Monster Painting, 2005; a two-person exhibition with Naomie Kremer in 2010; and Flowers in 2013. McClain Gallery held solo shows of the artist’s work in 2012 and 2022. Cass splits his time between his studios in New York and in Naples, Florida.
