Every show has been listened to for this purpose. In many cases I will tweak the audio if I can, or edit together the best quality parts of multiple copies of the same show. I do eliminate shows in which I feel the sound is too poor to be enjoyable for listening. Only in very rare circumstances, when the show is extremely hard to find will I include shows with poor sound. Of course, these are vintage shows, so some imperfections should be expected. *I try wherever possible to find the most unusual and hardest to find shows for each star and I update my sets regularly. *In the case of stars who appeared in a high volume of shows, I will offer multiple sets to keep costs low, but variety of shows high. Here is what you get in the Constance Bennett set – CD #1 Lux Radio Theatre “The Awful Truth” (1941 – comedy) – Constance stars opposite Bob Hope in this story of a couple who are getting divorced, but find they really love each other after all. The film had starred Irene Dunne and Cary Grant. This is a fantastic version…incredibly funny and both Constance and Bob are wonderful! 1 hour. CD #2 Silver Theater “Love Is Our Destiny” (1939 – drama) – Constance is on trial for murder and old friend Melvyn Douglas is her lawyer. A great show! 30 minutes. Radio Reader’s Digest “Mr. Cugat Takes Sick” (1946 – comedy) – Constance stars in the role of Liz Cugat (the role made famous by Lucille Ball in her series My Favorite Husband.) The household is thrown into an uproar when George takes sick. Some static, but still good. 30 minutes. Constance Bennett Calls 1945 (1945 – gossip) – A wonderful visit with Constance in which she describes in detail her dressing room, her clothes and different ways she likes to fix her hair. She also makes a plea for used clothes for war-torn Europe. A very interesting show. There is some static on this show. 15 minutes. CD #3 The Bob Hope Show “Girl’s Baseball” (1938 – comedy) – Constance makes a guest appearance with Bob Hope and the pair go to a girl’s baseball game. 30 minutes. Screen Guild Theater “Variety” (1939 – variety) – Constance appears with Errol Flynn as M.C. and participates in the hyjinks. 30 minutes. Bill Stern’s Sports Newsreel March 17, 1944 (1944 – sports news) – Constance is Bill Stern’s guest. 15 minutes. CD #4 The Chase & Sanborn Hour “Candlelight” (1937 – comedy) – Constance Bennett appears in the play “Candlelight” along with Don Ameche.
