Letter dated September 28, 1909, from George L. McLean, Factory Inspector, Hartford, Connecticut to Wayside Publishing Co., Clintonville, Connecticut. "Enclosed please find a copy of the law requiring the reporting of serious accidents to the State Factory Inspector, and also blank forms to be used. Please find a notice containing the law regarding the hours of labor to be posted in all rooms of the establishment, where minors under sixteen years of age and women are employed......" 2.) Notice, Chapter 220, Public Acts, 1909 regulating Hours of Labor for Minors and Women, limiting the hours to ten hours a day, unless additional time was required to make repairs to prevent the interruption of the running of the machinery....... The notice states that it is the Factory Inspector's duty to investigate all complaints of violations regarding hours of labor and to report all violations to the Governor. Violators were to be fined twenty dollars for each offense. 3.) Law Requiring the Reporting of Serious Accidents in Manufacturing or Mercantile Establishments to the State Factory Inspector. 4.)
