Hope you all like the new design. If you order the cartridge with the No LED option, you will get the same cartridge that you can then at any time you like add 1 or 2 1206 SMD LED's to. You'll also need 2 1206 resistors of at least 220 Ohms, if you go this route. This cartridge gives you both the Dead Test (781220) and the more in-depth diagnostics (586220) on 1 cartridge. LED Glow & Logo Illumination The premium cartridge starts early on in the manufacturing process by being gold plated vs. the typical HASL that may cause wear on your cartridge ports over time. If you plan on using this cartridge over and over again in the same cartridge port then I recommend you get one that is gold plated as it will prolong the life of your cartridge. Not only do you get a gold plated cartridge but you also get beveled edges which will further prolong the life of your cartridge port by easing the insertion of the cartridge at a slight 45 degree angle. The cartridge uses a precision socket that is machined to perfection to prevent wear and tear when inserting and removing chips into and out of the socket. This will help you when you later want to reprogram the chip so that all of the removing and reinserting doesn't wear out your socket. You also get 2 bonus utilities. You'll get a 1541 Diag / Test utility developed by world of Jani that will help you troubleshoot and test your 1541 drive for performance. You also get a very cool SID testing utility that will put all 3 voices of your SID chip to the test. This way you can verify 100% functionality. As an added bonus, the cartridge is built to support a 512Kbit EEPROM which means that it can store up to 8 x 8k images. The Dead Test and Diagnostics take up 2 of those slots and the 1541 and SID utilities take up 2 more. That's 4 slots left if you'd like to have other utilities added, perhaps a game or something else? Let us know. More images can be easily added using a programmer. If there are other BIN files you'd like us to program onto the cartridge before checkout let us know. You'll have to supply the BIN files. It's simple to switch between the Dead Test, Diagnostic, 1541 Diag, and SID Test. Just swap a few jumpers and you're using one or the other.
