Description: This is a rare March 1977 programme (playbill) with a loose second night ticket stub from the Original West End production of the PAUL BENTLEY and ROGER HAINES musical disappointment "FIRE ANGEL" at Her Majesty's Theatre in London. (The production played a two-week tryout in Wimbledon, England beginning February 25th, 1977, then opened March 24th, 1977 in London and closed after only 42 performances.) ..... Originally produced as "SHYLOCK", the rock musical based on Shakespeare's "Merchant of Venice" played Edinburgh's Fringe Festival in 1974 and received considerable praise. The show was rewritten and virtually unrecognizable when it opened three years later in Wimbledon. The musical starred COLM WILKINSON as "Barach", based on Shakespeare's "Shylock" and GAYE BROWN as "Lucy". In director BRAHAM MURRAY's autobiography, "The Worst It Can Be Is a Disaster: The Life Story of Braham Murray and the Royal Exchange Theatre", Murray called Wilkinson's performance the company's only redeeming feature. Others in the cast included PETER KARRIE, BELINDA NASH, LIBBY ROSE, WANDA ROKICKI, MARK TYME, KEITH HODIAK, ANTHONY WOOD, JULIAN LITTMAN, LUDOVICO ROMANO, RICHARD ROMAN, LARRINGTON WALKER, JOSHUA BANCEL, TERENCE HILLYER, DAVID WHELDON-WILLIAMS, COLIN FAY, HELEN BAKER, JENI EVANS, MYRA SANDS, MEGG NICOL, PAULETTE HEGNEY, PAULINE CRAWFORD, IAN BURFORD, STANLEY FLEET, HELEN CHAPPELLE, LINDA KENDRICK and DEREK SMITH ..... CREDITS: Music by ROGER HAINES; Book and Lyrics by PAUL BENTLEY based loosely on William Shakespeare's "Merchant of Venice"; Orchestrations by ANTHONY BOWLES; Sets and Costumes designed by JOHANNA BRYANT; Choreographed by ARLENE PHILLIPS; Directed by BRAHAM MURRAY; Produced by RAY COONEY ..... DETAILS: The twenty page playbill measures 5 1/4" X 8 1/2" inches and includes full production credits, cast list, synopsis of scenes, list of musical numbers and bios of each member of the creative team, but no cast photos or bios. Includes a ticket stub from the March 25th, 1977 evening performance .....
