Description: Both these drawings were done by Claire Wain who was an illustrator and who did many of the pictures signed by Louis Wain. I obtained several pictures drawn by her from a reputable auction house. On the back of the drawing it states “Executed with a Royal Sovereign Pencil. She drew the drawings for a 7 year old child whose family were close friends of both Claire and Louis Wain..whilst she was demonstrating Royal Sovereign Pencils at the British Industries Fair, White City, on her Exhibition Stand. I traced the owner of the drawings whose father was that 7 year old child. And she was kind enough to give me invaluable information and the opportunity to purchase more pictures. As I have quite a collection, I am parting with some drawings as I am at that age when one has to think about who in the family will want them! Obviously LW is the popular one but Claire Wain is more rare. As I have said, she did many of his drawings and paintings which he signed. Also she was the fifth child and the last surviving member of the family. The above is Provenance but feel free to ask any questions. Size of drawings is approx 14 x 17cms Condition is good. A small tear to top of the ship drawing (does not affect in any way). And small stain to one side. Will post tracked.
