CIVIL WAR CONFEDERATE VIRGINIA FOOT OFFICER SWORD With METAL SCABBARD

Description: This is CIVIL WAR CONFEDERATE VIRGINIA FOOT OFFICER SWORD . Made in Virginia . This sword was found at a military show. Sword used but in good condition. Sword length 36 inch or 92 cm. Blade length 30 inch or 76 cm. Blade has a dark patina from time to time. At the top of the blade is marked: E. E. (see picture ).The marks on the blade of this sword are the marks of the inspector who is responsible for the quality of the product. Perhaps E E is his unique designation. More additional information: the states of the Confederates made orders for weapons in other European countries Germany, France and others. It is possible that some parts of this sword were obtained from France, such as the guard, and the blade and assembly were made in Virginia. The handle, guard and blade are held tightly and do not dangle. Sword has metal guard, perhaps the end of the guard was heavily attached (see picture ). I found similar swords in the catalog :" CONFEDERATE EDGED WEAPONS by WILLIAM A. ALBAUGH III " on the pages 125 and 126, my sword is the same as in the catalog: shape and length of the blade (30 inches), the marking on the top of the blade is E, the drawing on the guard (see picture ).Similar to my sword made in Virginia, I found in another catalog (see last picture ). Sword has metal scabbard with a few dents. I had made pictures that serve as an additional description.
