Description: Up for sale, a circa 1993 Jackson USA neck-through guitar. I'm pretty sure this is a soloist but I'm not sure what the additional model identifiers would be. I couldn't find many examples of this HSS style with 3 knobs & selector. (I did find a similar 1990 model listed as a SL-1 at $4k - it's on Reverb if you want to hunt it down and see if the listing gives any better details of the model.) This guitar has some good aspects and a few bad. Starting with the body, the body looks great - no buckle marks, no big dents/scratches and only a few small dings on the contours.... It just looks like a pretty lightly played and handled guitar. Moving up, the neck is pretty good (action is low and really about perfect), the only negative I'd point out is a ding right about in the middle/back. There are 2 pics of it. Then moving on up, we have the headstock..... Well, I'm not sure what happened here. If I were to guess it looks like maybe it was clanked against something at the very tip and the front fascia on the headstock dislodged/splintered. The back of the neck/headstock joint looks pretty much perfect so it wasn't a headstock break. Take a look at the pics and make your own guesses here, I've provided several pics that will show some glue/rebuilding of one side of the headstock, mostly just the top veneer with the Jackson name. This has been listed for parts/repair as it will need a little attention to the electronics. The 9V inside was ancient and clearly the guitar has sat for many years. The selector switch is noisy and sort of imperfect in its action. (it does seem to switch between pickups and it appears the pickups are in normal working order). In addition, the 2 top control knobs are a little noisy, the lower one cuts out badly and I'm not even sure what it's doing. Mostly, things just need a blast of Caig Pro-Gold or similar but this lowest knob might need replacement or more serious attention. It almost sounds like it's adding echo which I expect isn't right at all. This came from the factory with gold hardware and a Floyd Rose which added several hundred dollars to the price ticket back in the early 90's. Twice my price will buy you this guitar brand new today. This came with a Jackson soft-sided case and it will ship with the guitar. I'm inclined to find a hardshell case and just slip the soft case inside the shipping box to there are no bad surprises in shipping. See pics for what you are buying. It ought to be rather easy to make this a great player, frets show hardly any wear and action is great. Sorry about the weird camera angles, my overhead lights produce a lot of problematic reflections so my camera angles end up looking a little strange. I wanted to give the best representation of the finish which is pretty nice overall, excluding the headstock mess. US bidders/buyers only please. This will ship tracked and insured.
