Description: This ulu knife was made by Chupak in Juneau, AK. Of all the innovative tools that came from the Native Alaskans, the Alaska ulu knife stands at the forefront. The ulu knife was their main cutting tool. It was originally made from flat, thin, rocks, slate, or even jade. Dimensions: 5.75" w x 4 h The ulu is a traditional knife used by the Alaskan Eskimos for the last 4,000 years! This fine Stainiess Steel blade should be treated as any other fine cuttery and washed by hand with warm soapy water and dried promptly. (L) From research I believe the handle is made of elk antler which is naturally shed annually in the Alaskan wilderness. (Could be Caribou) The world record time for processing a whole salmon using an ULU is 27 minutes.
