Christophe Claret himself was born in Lyon in 1962. At a young age, Christophe Claret discovered a passion for the mechanics of time. His passion was born in 1976 at the workshop of a watchmaker restorer and he spends over a year disassembling and assembling horological mechanisms in order to clean and service them. He entered the Geneva Watchmaking School in 1978. After graduating he continued his training at the Roger Dubuis watchmaker-jeweller to subsequently set up his first watchmaking workshop at a family-run establishment in Lyon specialising in restoration. 1987 was a year of revelation after meeting Rolf Schnyder, owner of the Ulysse Nardin brand, who placed an order for 20 San Marco minute-repeater calibres with jacks. His passion and drive was born, and two years later he established Claret Manufacture. In just a decade, his name became a benchmark in the field of complication movements, with his customer base growing. Christophe Claret then decided to give his company fresh impetus and in 1999 he purchased the Soleil d’Or mansion in Le Locle. However, the watch is extremely intricate and innovative and since it resurrects one of the traditional horological solutions. This wristwatch is made with a detent escapement instead of the ubiquitously used lever escapement. To improve and proved the most precision movement, Christophe Claret took on the challenge to over come deficient performance in marine chronometers that enabled navigation. He came up with three patents and a handful of innovative systems in order to secure reliable functioning. The Christophe Claret Maestoso is fitted with a generous Red Gold and anthracite PVD-treated grade 5 titanium case. The round case features a very nice satin-brushed finish and alternating high-polished that contrast perfectly against the openworked dial with black rhodium-plated nickel silver flange, shiny lacquer and black PVD-treated hands with white superluminova tips. The watch is fitted with a supple handmade black alligator strap. The completely in-house new hand-wound caliber DTC07 with distinctively shaped Charlex X type stepped bridges can likewise proud itself with constant force. One of its most notable characteristics is that it has constant force which allows better transfer of energy regardless of the condition of the power reserve.
