Description: Five tagua chips with some rind on the edges are tied together with a cotton cord. A macramé in the back makes it adjustable giving it the versatility of being worn long or short (it is 15 inches long at its maximum length). Two Tagua fragments finish it off at the back on each tip. All the beads used are sustainable, organic, vegan and biodegradable: 100% vegetable ivory (Tagua seeds) All of our jewelry is handmade from Vegetable Ivory (Tagua seeds). The Tagua Palm only grows in the northern region of the South American rainforest (mainly Colombia and Ecuador). When the fruit from the palm is ripe it falls to the ground releasing the fresh Tagua seeds (AKA Vegetable Ivory). At this point the seeds are harvested and set out to dry for 6 to 9 months and then they become rock solid resembling ivory in color, texture and hardness. Now the Tagua seeds are ready to be dyed, cut, drilled and shaped into beautiful beads for our organic jewelry collection.
