Lamotte. We inspected this work outside its frame. The painting, on paper, has been laid to panel sometime in the past 20 or 30 years or so. The work has also been trimmed, losing any borders. We are unable to see the back of the artwork and overall, it is very clean, which is not beyond the bounds of possibilities for a well-kept work, probably from a folio. Aging is also evident in the colours. However, to err on the side of caution, we are unable to confirm the date of the work, notwithstanding it is dated. This is, though, a very competent painting by an impressionist hand of the French School, with a couple of references found for an L. Lamotte or just Lamotte amongst the auction records, such as artprice.com and findartinfo.com. Well worth researching further given the quality of tis painting. Presented in a later frame, this painting will look fabulous displayed.
