Description: Here's an interesting antique ceramic "Bottle Kiln" coin bank that was designed by Ralph C.Carpenter of Chester, West Virginia. It is called a "bottle kiln" because of the shape resembling a bottle, but it was actually a replica of the early pottery kilns of the Ohio & West Virginia area....The bank is inscribed BOTTLE KILN 1840 1925 on base below a door..The back slanted roof of kiln has a coin slot...Bottom has a green felt covering over the hole that was used to retrieve the coins. The brown glazed pottery/ceramic bank is 5 3/4"tall....perfect condition with no chips or damage. This "Bottle Kiln" bank was called "Money In The Kiln" and was sold at a local festival in the Chester, West Virginia area. The bank was designed by Ralph C.Carpenter, who had been a modeler at the Taylor, Smith & Taylor Pottery for 31 years when this bank was made. There were only so many of these banks made, and they were never reproduced. That is why they are scarce! .... THIS IS A FIXED PRICE, BUY IT NOW ITEM FOR SALE IN MY STORE.
